These days, manufacturers want materials that are high strength but light in weight to create a diverse range of products. Carbon fiber parts provide significant relief for manufacturers, and they have been used in a wide range of applications. The aerospace and medical industries especially benefit from the properties that carbon fiber provides.

There are three parts of the carbon fiber production process, which include:

  • Pre-preg process

The process involves manufacturing carbon fiber parts that result in the making of carbon fiber sheets. Sheets are made by weaving the threads together once they are present in homogeneous strands.

  • Carbon fiber fabrication process

In this process, raw materials like epoxy resin create a prefabricated composite, which includes mixing and curing resins. Once it has been cured under high-temperature polymerization, the product is ready.

  • Post-preg processing

Now, more resins are added to the prefabricated composite.

Why should you use carbon fiber?

  • Strength

The main advantage of carbon fiber is its stiffness-to-weight ratio.

  • Low thermal expansion

Another benefit is its dimensional stability with a change of temperature. The thermal expansion coefficient is less.

  • Anisotropic properties

With many excellent properties of carbon fiber, it can’t be compared with the properties of other materials like aluminum, plastic, or steel. However, carbon fiber parts are not homogeneous and isotropic but they keep the mechanical properties same along all the axis.

Carbon fiber engineering processes!

  • Designing

The carbon fiber designing process considers all customers’ requirements so that a specific product with specific technical conditions can be made.

  • Analysis

Carbon fiber is analyzed according to its various applications. The latest tools and technologies are used for the analysis.

  • Prototyping

A critical process of carbon fiber prototyping is going through testing so that the design can be validated to ensure that the product is explicitly prepared according to the client’s requirements. So, the final product meets the standard quality.

  • Carbon fiber manufacturing

The latest techniques and technologies are used to manufacture carbon fiber material of unmatched quality. Generally, the carbon fiber manufacturing process includes processing wet layup, vacuum bagging, pultrusion, etc.

Ultimately, the composites are great with properties including stiffness and strength, with a lighter weight property.
